What is an electric motor scooter?
An electric motor scooter is an accessible, eco-friendly vehicle on two wheels. They’re more powerful than e-bikes, but not as intense as a motorbike. We think they’re the most fun way to see the sights.
Is this the right activity for me?
The Akaroa Beach Trail is perfect for confident, independent explorers that live life in the moment and appreciate roads less travelled.
The scooters’ electric motors make the scenic route accessible for people of any fitness level – all you need is a regular full drivers licence and confidence when riding a regular pedal bike.
What if I can’t finish the trail?
The tour is self-guided but we guarantee immediate phone support and can get to you within 15 minutes, if you need us. If you want to call it a day early, we’ll pick you up and bring you back to Akaroa at no extra cost.
What happens if I need to cancel due to bad weather?
It’s no fun being on two wheels in bad weather. We can’t control the weather but we do guarantee a full refund in the event of high wind or rain.
Is the scooter covered by damage insurance?
There is an excess of $500 for accidental damage to the scooter that the rider is liable for. Accidental damage above that level is covered by our insurance and is included in the tour price. Many guests will be covered for the excess by their travel insurance / credit card.
Am I covered by medical insurance if I have an accident?
New Zealand has comprehensive medical insurance in the event of an accident, known as ACC. This cover includes all tourists.
